This installation was commissioned by The British Council, New Delhi, India; and was exhibited on site in their art gallery. For this project I made an installation of wall drawings made with flowers, graphite, zerox and projections. Flowers are normally used in all ceremonies pertaining to weddings, birth and death but also as offerings in temples. The use of flowers in India is not only very ritualistic but is also part of its customs and traditions. This project consisted of traditional decorative motifs from India using flowers, juxtaposed with images of war and weaponry. Through the usage of flowers and its subsequent decay I would like to talk about the loss of cultural traditions as well as decay of our society. I have also drawn motifs with graphite on to hand railings. The process of gradual erasure of the drawing by viewers adds a performative quality to the work.
